This website, our products, and the entire Sockatoo adventure are dedicated to the memory of Sidney James the Wonder Bird – the most amazing parrot ever, who left us far too young and took a huge chunk of our hearts with him.
Every Sockatoo we make and every bird who discovers the joy of foraging with a Sockatoo carries a spark of The Sidster’s spirit forward.
Parrot Advocacy and Rescue
Companion parrots are unique in that they speak our language. Often, people fall in love with an on-line video of a happy parrot interacting with his family and rush out to buy one with no understanding of the complexities involved in living with a parrot. Then the new family member chews the corner off the piano. Or screams. Or bites. And how do the humans react – some physically abuse the bird, some lock him away in dark, lonely isolation and neglect. Some sell the bird without vetting the prospective owner to make sure the bird is going to a good home.
The lucky birds find their way to sanctuaries or reputable rescue organizations. The Sockatoo Production Team is passionate about parrot rescue. We are honored to support two amazing organizations — the Oasis Parrot Sanctuary and A Tropical Concept Exotic Bird Rescue.
